Synopsis: Anti-rape alarm device
Ogaprotect, a renowned security tech vlogger, has extensively researched and identified a solution that provides women with a real fighting chance to defend themselves against attackers.
The anti-rape alarm device is a powerful tool that allows the carrier to raise an alarm at over 130dB, louder than a mobile device ringtone and as loud as a car horn. This device holds immense importance for young women and girls, enabling them to raise an alarm when harassed, threatened, or under attack.
However, not all women have the means to afford this crucial device. The Raise an Alarm campaign aims to address this by providing young girls and women with keychain alarms, empowering them to raise an alarm when threatened and attract the attention of potential helpers.
About the campaign
Campaign Goal
Female harassment has been an issue and women must do something to fight for themselves. Our goal is to distribute personal safety alarms that allow the carrier to raise an alarm of up to 130db (louder than a mobile device ringtone, and as loud as a car horn) to 50,000 young ladies and women aged 15-35 in Nigeria. The device’s 130dB alarm is a remarkable safety feature, serving as a deterrent that could make potential attackers flee in fear of being caught.
However, as important as this device is, not all young girls and women are able to afford the device. This campaign will to put this device in the hand of young girls and women so they can raise an alarm when threatened, harassed or under attack and attract attention of helpers.
The campaign will also sensitize the public to spread awareness that immediate action is required to ensure the safety of those in distress when the alarm is heard.
The pilot phase of the campaign will empower 6000 young girls and women with these personal safety devices
What can the device do?
It’s a Better Attempt than Doing Nothing
The 130dB alarm produced by this device is designed to startle and scare potential attackers, allow the carrier to attract help and get to safety.
Its hard-shell construction and metal rod release mechanism make it difficult for attackers to disable easily. Even if thrown away, the alarm will continue to ring, drawing attention from passersby, neighbors, and potential rescuers that can intervene
The raise an alarm campaign also aims to spread awareness about the prevailing issue of rape in Nigerian society, the burning issue of personal safety, and the availability of such devices to protect women

Its hard shell construction and metal rod release mechanism make it difficult for attackers to disable easily. Even if thrown away, the alarm will continue to sound, drawing attention from passersby, neighbors, and potential rescuers. By raising awareness that an alarm indicates something is wrong, we can create a community that responds swiftly to help those in need.
